Justin, very creative way to invite outside contributions to your sermon prep.

I've been reading and thinking a bit lately about where the format for current worship service format came from. Why is the pastor's sermon the central part of the service? Why is it usually the same person every week? Why is it a monologue?

The example given in 1 Cor 14 is a worship service with lots of people contributing as led by the Spirit. Something that would be unthinkable in the typical, highly structured American worship service today.

Your open-source sermon idea seems to be a step in the direction towards a more participatory worship service.

Love the idea!! I have been bringing some of my writing to a group of women over the summer and it has added many new dimensions to my ideas. It has been amazingly rich to grow something in community, rather than as that single person.

Love this idea - something I'd love to explore with our community of faith. I beginning to fall a little out of love with preaching as it seems to suggest that the person who stands at the front has all the answers, which the audience need to hear. This collaborative approach embodies the idea of a 'community of faith' exploring the word together - reinforcing our calling to be in a community together rather than each of us on a 'personal pilgrimage'. I guess the next stage is figuring out how we could deliver a preach as a community?

Very interesting idea Justin! Is there a way to hear/read the final product?
