Never Underestimate the Power of Nice.

My friend Jeremy sent me the following video. It features Penn Jillette, a famous illusionist and (maybe even more famous) atheist.

You can find numerous videos of Jillette sharing why he believes Christianity is false, dangerous, untrue, and why there can’t be a God. He’s not shy about the fact that he doesn’t buy the whole Jesus thing.

That’s what makes this video so fascinating.

I won’t spoil it for you, suffice to say that it taught me that you can never underestimate the power of being nice. Ever. Our conduct says more about us than any single religious belief. When our beliefs are fueled by our actions, the results are very powerful.

See what a confirmed, card-carrying atheist has to say about his encounter with a Christian man who was, simply, “nice.”

as i was listening, i kept thinking, "what if it was Jesus who gave him that book and genuinely complimented him for who he was and what he was doing?"

You know what the writer of Hebrews said, "You could be entertaining angels and not even know it." I suppose the same holds true for Jesus!

As one of the (probably) few atheists who reads your blog. Thanks for sharing that. It was wonderful.

Hey Mike. Glad you liked the post… The Penn video, if nothing else, helped me to better understand some of the objections that non-Christians have with the faith. Thanks for reading.
