For My Non-Catalyst Homies

Are you sitting at home instead of basking in the glow that is Catalyst? You’ve come to the right place. Commiserate below with me as I walk through some thoughts as to why I’m bummed to not be at Catalyst this year.

Alas, there’s always next year. Right? Who’s with me?

I was just thinking the same thing. I totally want to spend time getting to know the people I talk to everyday online in person finally. Hopefully it will be sooner than later. Until I’ll just continue to be sharpened by online properties like this one. :) Thanks for saying what I was thinking. *JINX*

Hate that i wont be seeing Justin Wise – great to meet you at The Story.

I am enjoying the $800 I didn’t spend on hotels, airfares, food and conference fees. =) Maybe I need to be convinced on the value of an event like Catalyst.

Bit you’d spend that same $800 for another conference you value, yes?

Catalyst still remains an enigma to me as far as content, not sure why I would be going there…but yeah, it would be cool to hang out with everyone.

Interesting point… Say, are you saying you can’t quite find the “pulse” of Catalyst?

I’m sure you’ve read “The War of Art” or “Linchpin” but both seem to suggest that these big events only serve to fuel THE RESISTANCE (in Pressfield’s work) or THE LIZARD BRAIN (in Godin’s book).

If church conferences were effective, I think we’d see a rise in the Church’s effectiveness and not a drop in it over the past years as conferences have grown in popularity….

If you want to hang out with nationally known people instead of gathering with your own local tribe, I think it reveals a lusting of our heart that is misguiding much of what we do.

Now you’re just picking fights ;)

You bring up a VERY valid point. If conferences are about leading and transforming, where is the fruit? Where’s the leading and transforming (generally speaking).

      What sayeth you?
